Week Ten
#22 FaceBook
Very interesting how people with common interests can meet, form groups and network without having to travel. You can add events and post flyers (for a charge) which is something we are doing for the Code Game, the freshman introduction to library services and resources. Look under"OU Class of '11" in Facebook. It will be there soon.
#23 Big Bang
So many ways to share information forever accumulating, expanding, so much information to share, and I only have one lifetime. After all day in front of a computer I really like going outside and playing with my dog.
Here is a NYTimes article At a Family Gathering...

Week Nine
#20 YouTube
There's a lot of funny videos out there. Here are some of my favorites:
We had a near bike theft at our house around 6 am Sunday morning. The thief was making off with our son's bike when Rudy gave the alarm. My husband gave case running barefoot down the street. Rudy kept barking from the safety of the porch. My heros! Luckily the bike chain slipped (been meaning to fix that) so the thief dropped the bike and got away.
This caused me to look up keypad automatic door locks. I found one online that had a YouTube movie demonstration. Our door is now secure thanks to YouTube.

#21 Podcasts
I have enjoyed the show with zefrank, enjoy This American Life, and get a kick out of Dispair, Inc.
I like the "How to do it" resources. It is a great way to get your stories out there.

Week Eight
#18 Web-based Apps
ZOHO Creator online data manager for collecting and viewing data. Wow. Flexible, useful. The site has helpful tutorials and useful examples.
#19 Discovering Web 2.0 tools
The Web 2.0 Award nominees are great fun to go through. I've searched Craigs List before and think it is a great resource for finding stuff. My Favorite is One Sentence - true stories, told in one sentence!

Week Seven
#16 Wiki Wiki
I searched SJCPL Subject Guides and found a book title "The Underdog: A Celebration of Mutts", by Julia Szabo, but there was no info about it. The page was last modified 16:59, 19 December 2005. I can get it for $3 on ebay. Library Success: A Best Practices Wiki looks like a really good resource for recommendations I am interested in creating a wiki resource related to specific uses of software and hardware currently used in my department. I like wikis as a first source for info, then I'll check the sources for credibility.
#17 Playing Around with Wikis
I added a blog to the list on. Going through and seeing what others had added was fun. I got a lot of emails letting me know more items were being added. This was a nuisance until I figured out how to make it stop.

Week Six
#13 Del.icio.us
I do my bookmarking in Google and that's enough for me. It's like there is too much out there. I don't need to bookmark EVERYTHING. Less is more. Then if I don't have my laptop with me am I lost without bookmarks?
#14 Technorati
I found PostSecret here, and played a YouTube movie about the secrets that were mailed -collected as a project and turned into a book. Sensitive stuff
#15 On Library 2.0 & Web 2.0 ..
I've always thought Libraries and librarians were cool, information resources rule. When I got my job here I thought I'd achieved Nirvana.

Week Five
#10 Image Generators : Sketch Generator
In the original image I had to edit the eyes because the flash made them glow. Then I uploaded the image to Flickr and imported it into the sketch generator.
#11 Library Thing
This could be a nice way to recomend books or list what you've read and like.
#12 Rollyo Search Engine
I searched Quick Quotes for dog friend and found this:
------
Search rolls that have already been created: public Domain e-Books Search, Rare Book Library Search, Free Photos, Quick Quotes, explore other rolls.

Week Four
#8 Simply RSS
I have added several RSS feeds to my Google Reader page. The hardest part of RSS is keeping up with the reading.
#9 Finding Feeds
I found some interesting dog related feeds and linked them to my Google Read page. Check out this RSS site: feed://www.dog.com/news/feed/feed.xml and feed://ezpuppytraining.com/feed

Week Three
#5 and #6 Flickr and Generating Fun

Young Rudy
Friday, October 3rd, 1998, on my way home from work I stopped at the animal shelter…
Rudy Warhol
I checked out some generators and thought the Warholizer was neat. (http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/warholizer.php) I square cropped a picture of Rudy in Photoshop, uploaded it to flickr, selected it in Warholizer and made the Warhol picture. I download this, edited it some more, uploaded it back to flickr, then posted it to my blog, edited the code and changed the style="border: to none". Sshw!
I wrote a story about how we got our family dog Rudy and put it and some pictures up on Flickr, and posted it to my blog. I played with "Spell with flickr" to spell Rudy's name and sent it to my blog, too. I went in to edit post, copied the code and pasted the two blog posts into one. Like it? I edit the date of this post (Post Options) to keep it at the top of my blog.
I also played with FD Toys’ Trading Card Maker.
#7 Dealing with Technology
I just got my first cell phone and placed a phone call. Wow for me. Soon as the phone charges I'm going to figure out how to add phone numbers and ring tones. Now that's cool technology!

Week One and Two
#1 and #2 Read and Discover Learning 2.0 and Lifelong Learning
I've read the blogging intro, reviewed the 7 & 1/2 Habits online tutorial. Which of these is easiest? Playing around. Which is hardest? The problem solving, but I like a challenge and if I don't figure it out today I will tomorrow.
#3 and #4 Create and Register the Blog
If you are reading this I have successfully created and registered a blog. I got a Blogger widgit for my dashboard and used it to post this message. (http://www.google.com/macwidgets/) for MAC

My Skydiving Music Video
NOTES… I linked my skydiving movie from the streaming server to my blog using html embed tags (see code below). I linked the Rudy pictures on the right from my oak server account. They need Shockwave to work correctly. I created a favorites playlist in YouTube (see Week Nine). It also needs Shockwave. I edited the width and height in the code to make it fit the blog. Pictures added from my Flickr account seem to work fine. If you're using Explorer and can't see the pictures and movies the latest Adobe Shockwave is not installed on your computer. You can download Adobe Shockwave here.
